To mark National Democracy Day, the Rotary Club of Chitwan collaborated with Bharatpur Hospital Development Committee Employees’ Union, Chitwan Cycle Riders Club, Nepal Journalists Federation to organize a grand cycling rally promoting a healthy lifestyle and environmental conservation. Themed “Cycling for good Health”, the event aimed to encourage a cycling culture while raising awareness about its health and environmental benefits. The rally, which started from Bharatpur Hospital, passed through Bypass Road and reached the site of Devghat, before concluding at Chowkbiskothi. Chief District Officer of Chitwan Prakash Paudel stated that the current sedentary lifestyle has led to an increase in non-communicable diseases, and adopting the habit of cycling can be beneficial. Rotary Club of Chitwan President Rtn. Bhanu Sharma expressed gratitude to the participants and emphasized that this cycling campaign is essential for promoting health awareness. A total of 125 cyclists participated in the rally, including key dignitaries such as Chief District Officer Prakash Paudel, Medical Superintendent of Bharatpur Hospital and Rotary Club of Chitwan President-Elect Rtn. Dr. Krishna Prasad Paudel, Hospital Management Committee Chair and Past President Rtn. Raju Paudel, Employee Union President Dr. Dipendra Neupane, Rotary Club President Rtn. Bhanu Sharma, and Nepal Journalists Federation Chitwan Chapter President Basanta Parajuli. The Chitwan Cycle Riders Club played a crucial role in the technical coordination of the rally. Several Rotary Club members, including President-Elect Rtn. Ram Chandra Adhikari, Joint Secretary Rtn. Janak Kumar Dhakal, Membership Chair Rtn. Er. Puran Subedi, Editor Rtn. Rupak Shrestha, Co-Editor Rtn. Prabha Gurung, and Member Rtn. Er. Uday Krishna Shrestha, actively participated in the event. The initiative successfully promoted fitness, sustainable transportation, and environmental responsibility within the community, reinforcing Rotary’s commitment to public health and well-being. |
