Date: 12th February, 2025

Venue: Rotary Dandapani Bhattarai Bhawan

Rotary Club of Chitwan successfully organized a cardiac screening program for school children at its club building on 12th February 2025. The program aimed to detect heart diseases in children at an early stage, specifically targeting students from community schools.

The screening was conducted in collaboration with Rotary Punnaryan Ujelidevi Cardio Care Center under the leadership of Past District Governor and Past Club President Rtn. Rabindra Piya. He emphasized the importance of early diagnosis of heart diseases among children and highlighted Rotary’s ongoing efforts in public health initiatives.

Club President Rtn. Bhanu Sharma noted that Rotary’s global efforts in polio eradication have brought the disease close to elimination. Similarly, the club has been actively organizing various health-related programs, including the launch of a regular heart screening program at its own premises.

During the event, 31 students from Balkumari Secondary School underwent heart checkups, including echocardiography and other diagnostic tests, conducted by senior cardiologist Rtn. Dr. Manoj Shrestha. Looking ahead, the club plans to expand the screening program to include senior citizens in the upcoming sessions, ensuring broader community health benefits. The initiative is expected to raise awareness, facilitate early diagnosis, and provide timely referrals for necessary medical interventions.
