Date:8th July, 2024

Venue: Rotary Karunalaya Old Age Home, Bharatpur 1 Devghat

On the 8th of July 2024, the Rotary Club of Chitwan, Rotaract Club of Chitwan, and Spouse Club of RC Chitwan jointly organized a comprehensive cleanliness program at Rotary Karunalaya Briddhashram, which is the signature project of the Rotary Club of Chitwan. This program was conducted as part of the disaster relief efforts after the water level in the Narayani River surged due to continuous rainfall over the past few weeks. The persistent rain caused significant flooding, leading to various inconveniences for the elderly residents of the Briddhashram, as the area became inundated and cluttered with items carried by the river. In response to this, a major cleaning effort was organized to restore cleanliness and order to the facility. The cleaning activities took place from 8 am to 11 am.

The cleanliness program saw remarkable participation from the community. Notable attendees included the President of Rotary Club of Chitwan, Rtn. Bhanu Sharma, the President of Rotary Karunalaya/ former president of the club, Uttam Lal Chuke, the President of Rotaract Club of Chitwan, Rtr. Yugal Shrestha, the President of the Spouse Club of RC Chitwan, Parbati Bagale Subedi, along with past presidents of Rotary Club of Chitwan, board members, and members.

The impact of the program was both immediate and long-term. In the short term, the cleanliness program successfully removed debris and restored order to the Briddhashram, greatly improving the living conditions for the elderly residents. In the long term, the program reinforced community spirit and demonstrated the effectiveness of Rotary’s disaster relief initiatives.

The beneficiaries of this cleanliness program are the elderly residents of Rotary Karunalaya Briddhashram.
