The newly constructed “Rotary Udaya Kumar Chameli Devi Piya Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Center” located at Narayangarh, Chitwan, was officially handed over to the Rotary Club of Chitwan on 25th November 2024. This center, funded by donor Udaya Kumar Piya and his family, including Dr. Madan Piya. The Rehabilitation center aims to serve particularly physiotherapy, for individuals with spinal injuries.
Designed to cater to 25 patients at a time, it stands as the second such facility in Nepal, following the one at Sanga. Rotary Club of Chitwan President Rtn. Bhanu Sharma shared that the center will begin its services soon.
The program was chaired by Rtn. Rabindra Piya, Past District Governor and Past President of Rotary Club of Chitwan, who also served as the center’s coordinator. Bharatpur Metropolitan Ward No. 3 Chairperson Bikas Thapa graced the event as the chief guest.
The program included speeches from Rotary leaders and dignitaries, including AG Zone 38, Rtn. Hari Prasad Subedi, Past President Rtn. Uttam Lal Chuke, and donor representative Dr. Madan Piya. The session was hosted by the center’s Secretary and Rotary Club of Chitwan Vice President Rtn. Rajan Piya.
The center is expected to make a significant impact by providing specialized care to patients, improving their quality of life and mobility.
President Rtn. Bhanu Sharma delivered the welcome speech, while the event concluded with PDG Rtn. Rabindra Piya elaborating on the project’s significance and its anticipated impact on spinal injury rehabilitation services in the region.
