On 10th February 2025, Rotary Club of Chitwan, in collaboration with Lions Club of Narayangarh Chitwan, Dhanalakshmi Savings and Credit Cooperative Ltd., and Rotary Club of Narayangarh, organized a scholarship distribution program at Shree Shiva Saraswati Secondary School, Rising, Tanahun. The event marked the school’s Golden Jubilee celebration, where 22 underprivileged yet meritorious students were awarded scholarships of NPR 3,000 each.
The program was chaired by Yamuna Shrestha, a member of the School Management Committee, with Rtn. Uttam Lal Chuke, District Advisory Committee Member of Rotary District 3292 and Past President of Rotary Club of Chitwan, as the Chief Guest. The school principal, Lilakumar Shrestha, welcomed the attendees, while former president of Lions Club of Chitwan, Shyam Krishna Shrestha, expressed his joy in contributing to his birthplace.
The scholarship initiative, which started as a small effort during a visit to Rising on 7th February 2013, has now expanded significantly, benefiting an increasing number of students each year. Rtn. Uttam Lal Chuke highlighted the school’s remarkable progress in Tanahun and assured continued support. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Yamuna Shrestha, expressing gratitude for 12 years of continuous support and reinforcing a commitment to educational advancement. A special recognition certificate was presented to the contributing organizations. The program was hosted by Past President Rtn. Deepak Pradhan, with participation from key dignitaries, including Hira Shrestha, past president of Lions Club of Narayangarh Laligurans.
